Joe Bonamassa shreds the Riverside Theater

Blues-rock guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa lit up Milwaukee’s historic Riverside Theater for a late spring show, shredding a blues/rock medley solidifying him as one of the genre’s present and future staples.

His most recent work, Different Shades of Blue, elicits new character from Bonamassa, a work heavily promoted on this tour. Different Shades of Blue has a little more weight to it in terms of the “rockiness” of Bonamassa’s version of blues. The addition of big band instruments throws in a new dynamic as well – one that adds quite the experience to his live performance.

Singles such as “Love Ain’t a Love Song” show off the blues-rock-big band nature of his current style while retaining a noticeable grasp on his blues guitar shredding roots. Although not as vintage or traditional as his previous releases or performances at the Riverside Theater, fans remained deeply engaged in what they’d describe as a mesmerizing live experience.
