Keith Urban closes out Country USA with a bang
Following the impressive performance of Clay Walker and his band, Keith Urban prepared to headline the final day of Y100’s Country USA at Ford Festival Park in Oshkosh, WI.
Although this is a country festival, Keith Urban’s music isn’t pure country. As talked about before with Phil Vassar, some of the performers are more universal than just country. Keith is a bit less full on Nashville and more of a mix of pop and country. I think this had a better draw than something more country and less of what everyone could dance around and have fun to.
After a swift meet and greet and interview with Y100 backstage, Keith Urban took the stage to over 50,000 screaming fans. Powering through his first song with amazing guitar skill, Keith belted out “Oshkosh b’gosh!” just before the start of the second song. The crowd really liked this, especially the ones way in the back who Keith constantly joked about being a few songs behind most of the night.
Throughout Keith Urban’s hour and a half long set they played music from “Be Here” to “Get Closer” and everything in between and beyond. There was something for everyone built into Keith’s show.
Keith wasn’t just all performance for the entire night; he loved to interact with the screaming, loving crowd. A couple times he even left the stage and ran around the first couple sections of people and played a song and a half out by the soundboard, just like we say the night prior with Brad Paisley. “You guys are crazy!!” he said, grinning from ear to ear.
Later in the show he invited up a few fans to come and sing with him which was hilarious, as only one out of the three actually knew the words. After a few laughs and some bad singing, Keith, the band, and the three lucky fans finished off the song. Everyone left the stage in smiles, especially Keith.
Keith Urban and his band were just so laid back and so into his music and fans that it made for a very special close to an awesome talent packed week of country music. This was the performance to remember. Country USA really picked a great closing headliner and he did nothing less than impress the entire festival park.
See you all next year!
