Scorpions move ‘Hurricane’ over Milwaukee

As the name implies, Scorpions’ “Final Sting” tour will be their last tour, but rest assured it’s not a small one. With tour dates spanning Europe, USA, Canada, Latin America, and Asia, the guys from Germany are doing it big for one last run and are nothing less than impressive when they storm the stage.

Playing the new BMO Harris Pavilion at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Scorpions had a brand new outdoor venue to break it, and they did just that with the help of thousands of mostly middle aged fans overflowing out the sides and rear.

As the lights dimmed and the rumble of cheers took over the south end of the Summerfest grounds, James Kottak and his drums lifted up 25 feet above the stage where he sat perched beating through the first two songs. The rest of the band shot out onto stage under the cover of bright lights and smoke (fake smoke) and the wail of guitars lead into “Sting in the Tail” followed by Klaus Meine’s unmistakable vocals.

As seasoned veterans on the rock scene, Scorpions know how to put on a very entertaining rock show. Rudolf Schenker (guitars) was especially entertaining; running around on stage and loving the cameras. He was just pouring with energy which is something fans really love to see.

Extensive experience in the studio and on stage have left these guys with so much talent and pzazz that no one could be¬†disappointed¬†at their Summerfest performance. Playing through an nicely sized set was also a treat as many Summerfest acts are shorter than a “normal” concert would be. Although this is their final tour, Scorpions left their final mark on Milwaukee in a very memorable way.
