Summerfest ends first week strong

It was a killer week for music in Wisconsin. From Country USA to CountryFest to Summerfest, the state has become overrun with wild festival goers looking for a release. It’s the busiest time of the year here – after the long winters we just want to get out and have a good time, even if it is nearly 90 degrees.

The heat never stopped anybody here. When there’s Summerfest, you’ll surely find thousands of die hard music fans anxious to hear bands old and new.

The first week of Summerfest ended on a high note hailing Outkast on the Marcus Amphitheater main stage and other frequents such as Umphrey’s McGee, OAR, and 38 Special taking the reins at the grounds stages. A significantly tamer night than that of the last, Sunday tends to be a wind down night for many festivals. It seemed Summerfest was holding rather strong, attracting a plethora of fans to the many genres lining their grounds – but this might be thanks to their strong week end lineup.

Fans often flock to enjoy the crossover of styles but it’s also great to see bands like OAR and Unphreys McGee complimenting each other on stages right next to one another. Many choose to plant their feet for one band, but others love to walk around a soak in the night. Sunday was perfect for that.

Summerfest keeps you busy. Between grounds stages, BMX stunt acts, JoJos martini lounge and Lucille’s piano bar as you make your entrance to the fest, there’s something for everyone.

OAR and Umphrey’s McGee are no stranger to Summerfest or even Milwaukee for that matter. Both veterans of this festival, either make appearances for many consecutive years or alternate. They’ve become a major staple and never disappoint. They themselves seem to never get sick of the loving Midwest fans that travel great distances for their summertime feeling.

Summerfest will continue into next week, resuming on Tuesday, July 1st and ending on Sunday July 7th. Summerfest’s annual Big Bang fireworks display has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 1 in addition to the US Bank display on July 4th.
