Tech N9ne fires up Fall with Milwaukee

Hot, and I mean really hot off of his last tour, Tech N9ne and a good size of the Strange Music family are back at it on tour hitting what seems like as many cities as possible. Loaded with new album Something Else, Tech has reenergized himself while keeping astonishingly busy at the same time.

His third appearance in just a year and half, Tech is no stranger to the partying Milwaukee hip hop crowd. Though often filling venues to the brims, this show was a little more intimate. A smaller venue within The Rave complex was nice, but we were packed in like sardines.

One factor keeps changing when Tech and his crew come through town – the support. Or could the constant tour mean that Tech is supporting them? Strange Music is his brain child and networking his investment is a slick move.

Opening artists on Tech N9ne tours take after his style and model his stage presence to a T. They’re not afraid to toy with the fans and keep the volume levels constantly increasing. By the time Tech walk through the door, half the city knows who’s in town. “This ain’t my first time here and I’ll be damned if it was my last,” screamed Stevie Stone as he ended his set with mad love for his fans.

Tech N9ne’s Something Else has had its breakthroughs and maybe even a few shortcomings, but it’s hard to judge an album from an artist like Tech if you haven’t experienced it at 125db.

Its the music. It’s the fast paced high energy combination that makes Tech N9ne concerts as addicting as they are. The  supporting artists aren’t ones to be brushed off and they all get more than a small fifteen minute slot to spit some of their best work

And after all that the occasional concert goer would be worn out – not these people. After experiencing a few sets from Tech you realize these fans just keep going and going.

Chants of “oooh Areola” filled the two story room during the final set change, further highlighting the hype that Tech has built for himself. It may not be an arena, amphitheater, or stadium show, but know the epicness of everyone there amounted to more fun that I’ve seen at any venue.

Song afer song was hit upon hit. Sampling from recent EP EBAHSomething Else, and heavily from All 6’s and 7’s created a whirlwind of high powered hip hop that you won’t hear anywhere else.

“Make some noise for Krizz Kaliko,” Tech praised his stage partner. “How ya’ll doin’ Milwaukee? It’s good to be back?”

Jumping onto the barrier with Krizz sent the show into an explosion of screams as he flawlessly belted out “Worldwide Choppers”. Fans of Kaliko enjoyed a few fast songs featuring Kaliko at the helm, though Tech quickly found his way back in the lead.

We’ve seen a lot Tech N9ne and Strange Music lately – I’m sure he’s already planning his next trip.
