The Rave illuminated by LIGHTS

It’s been four years since Lights has set foot in Milwaukee. The time prior she found herself in a slightly different setting, Turner Hall Ballroom, and with quite a larger crowd. The indie-pop singer has released a few albums since that time and built quite strongly on the voice that brought her to her fan’s attention in the first place.

An energetic and enthusiastic front-woman, Lights is well known for her front of stage dance moves and synth playing. The electro-indie-pop genre comes to life through her powerful vocals. The songs maintain a simplistic yet intriguing vibe that have done well on Siberia and the more recent Little Machines, two albums that have brought her into mainstream fame.

Slowing the show down mid-show, Lights performed a small sit down acoustic take on a few songs, showcasing the more organic side to her music. Also, announcing a follow up to Little Machines, Lights is keeping suit with many of her previous albums by releasing an acoustic version of the newest album.

The acoustic albums are an entirely different take on many of her songs, but done equally as well. Displaying this vastly different side has always been a success for Lights, many of the acoustic singles being very well known amongst fans.

Having now seen how the her live music has changed in her four years away from Milwaukee, I couldn’t help but think what a Lights/MisterWives matchup would sound like. Maybe next time?
