This Will Destroy You bring instrumental wonder to Turner Hall

A well hidden gem in live music scene this week, This Will Destroy You and The Velvet Teen performed at Milwaukee’s Turner Hall Ballroom for nothing short of an awe-inspiring epic to a modest and mesmerized crowd.

The Milwaukee show marks the debut of a brief U.S. tour by This Will Destroy You, the other late July dates tapping nearby Midwest cities of Minneapolis, Madison, and wrapping with a two night run in Chicago.

A sound and performance as big as the imagination, This Will Destroy You fiddled with mellow flows mimicking waves while transitioning quickly into edgy soaring choruses. An experimental atmospheric wonder, This Will Destroy You forges an intense modern psychedelic instrumental experience.

Venue to venue This Will Destroy You may take on different character, but their enormous sounding and artistic style acquainted well with the weathered Turner Hall Ballroom.

Full bodied and of great depth, This Will Destroy You favor quality, sometimes long songs over lengthier LPs. Their handful of releases may feel underwhelming at first, but diving into the quality they produce makes them shine brightly through.

It’s one thing to accomplish the complexity of their music in the studio and another to achieve the same in a live setting. This Will Destroy You powered through notable singles, including leading with “Dustism” from their recent 2014 release, Another Language. “It’s been a very long time since we’ve been here and we appreciate the support. We didn’t know what to expect but you guys have been a very respectful crowd so we appreciate that”.
