Warped Tour shreds through Milwaukee
Yet another year on the road, Warped Tour rolled into Milwaukee on July 19 tearing up the Summerfest grounds. Headliners August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, and Paramore tore up the tour stop, but the absence of Bring Me The Horizon, a tour and personal favorite, made this years tour a little different.
On one of the hottest days Wisconsin has seen this summer, thousands of teens and adults alike threw down to some of the hottest bands in metal. Most of the headliners appeared on the Teggart main stage easily making it the place to be throughout the day. There were also a lot of other great bands that made their way into Milwaukee on the various other stages dotting the amphitheater end of the Summerfest grounds.
Concert goers kept cool thanks to the open fire hydrant misting anyone that passed by. There was also free water at the “Klean Kanteen” which is unusual for many festivals and concerts whom often charge upwards of 5 dollars for bottles of water. One of the vendors had some very tasty looking pizza for sale which was the apparent hit in terms of food during Warped.
This years amazing lineup gathered quite a crowd at the “bigger” stages, and reasonable crowds at the smaller stages with many of the emerging artists on the tour. The crowds were great, and had some great performers to mosh, jump, and crowd surf to. Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada was especially unsatisfied with the crowd until he finally kicked them into gear. “We’ve been to Milwaukee and we know you can do better!” screamed Mike Hranica antagonizing the crowd to break out into some of the most amazing moshes Warped Milwaukee has seen.
If it weren’t for the scorching weather Warped would have been ten times better, but I’m not complaining. Performances were top notch and Milwaukee couldn’t have asked for 2011 Warped Tour.
